Nonprofit implementation guide
Guide 7: Transfer ownership and measure
Close the engagement with nonprofit-controlled access, knowledge, support, and review dates.
Transfer the operating record
Collect current configuration, data maps, integration inventory, decisions, test evidence, known limitations, recurring duties, renewal dates, support routes, and unresolved risks in an accountable nonprofit location.
Have staff demonstrate administrator, operator, onboarding, reporting, exception, and recovery tasks while the consulting team can still answer questions.
Review identity and access
Confirm nonprofit ownership of accounts, domains, billing, source materials, integrations, backups, and recovery methods. Review external identities and remove access that no longer has an approved purpose.
Keep credentials and recovery codes in approved secret storage, not in general documentation, email, chat, or a public issue tracker.
Set the post-engagement controls
Name the service owner, administrator, data owner, support boundary, success measures, baseline, first review date, and events that require reassessment. Include staff turnover, product changes, new integrations, data changes, and mission changes.
A strong handoff reduces hidden dependence without pretending the nonprofit will never need expert help again. The team should know what it owns and when to seek qualified support.
